About Your Instructor

Sensei Tracy D. Corder was born in September 1962 in a small town in the Midwest.  He later moved to Tucson, Arizona where he began learning various martial art styles, including HWARANG DO, TAE KWON DO, KENPO KUNG FU, SHORIN-RYU KARATE and NINJUTSU.

In 1989 after 9 years of training in various martial art disciplines, and still looking for a traditional style of martial art that did not require going to competitive meets, he moved to Federal Way, Washington.  Sensei Corder joined the Genbukan Ninpo Bugei organization.  There he opened a Dojo under the strict guidance of licensed Ninpo Taijutsu instructors, Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura Sensei, and Shibu-cho Chadwick Minge Sensei.

In 1995 he received his first ranks of Shodan in Ninpo Taijutsu, and Nidan in Jujutsu from Genbukan Ninpo Bugei and Kokusai Jujutsu Renmei Organizations.  This honor came with a great responsibility and guidelines to ensure that the traditions of this art stay true.

Today Sensei Corder is the Chief Instructor and Kancho of KOGEN NINPO DOJO.  He has continued his studies at the Master level of 5th Dan (traditional style or "old school").  He continues his studies to master the following Ryu-ha, Asayamai Ichiden Ryu,  Hontai Tagkagi Yoshin Ryu, Kukishin Ryu, Koto Ryu, Gyokko Ryu, Shinden Tatara Ryu, Kukishinden Ryu, Tenshin Ryu, Togakura Ryu, Gikan Ryu, Kumogakure Ryu, Tatara Shinden Ryu, Yagyu Shingan Ryu, and Shinden Fudo Ryu.

The dojo (School) name translates as "Source of Great Light".  Annually, Sensei Corder volunteers and promotes FREE self defense seminar's for women.  He has also trained police, professional bodyguards and security professionals.  At his Dojo's you will learn a variety of Traditional weapons taught in the traditional manner.  These include three foot stall (Hanbo), four foot staff (Jo), six foot staff (Rokushaku Bo), knife (Tanto), Sword (Kenjutsu), archery (Kyudo), and Firearms self defense to name just a few.

Sensei Corder's goal is to preserve and spread the discipline of Ninpo Taijutsu to students of all ages.  "Teaching all students to excel in all they put their minds to."  The instruction encourages students to learn about the world and its many facets and how to martial arts can make a positive change to their lives, known as Ninpo Bugei.

Sensei Corder accepts only a few students at one time to assure the quality of training.  His belief is that, "It's better to have a few good Students / Instructor's that he can spend time with, rather than have five hundred mediocre students."  This is another reason for opening branch Dojo's around the world.  To qualify as one of Sensei Corder's Instructor's, you must train for a minimum of seven years under his direct guidance and receive the rank of Senior Shodan Level.

The potential student of Ninpo must also bear in mind that there is no governmental agency regulating the teaching of the martial arts.  Black Belts can be purchased through the mail or magazines by anyone.  The  only legal requirement for setting up a Dojo as a Ninjutsu Instructor is a business license from the community, and the purchase of a four dollar black belt.
